In March of 2015 five nursing students and one nurse from Adams State University travelled to San Andres Itzapa, Guatemala. The team of six worked in the tiny clinic Centro de Salud, which serves over 31,000 people in the local community! They conducted assessments, gave vaccinations, and handed out medication. At the end of their mission, they went to Asociación Obras Sociales Del Santo Hermano Pedro, a children’s hospital in Antigua. Here they treated children with cerebal palsy, spina bifida, and mental health disorders. The nursing students donated FIGS to the nurses at the Asociación and in return received great advice, “When you do what you do with love and do it from the heart, it is easy”.
