In March of 2015, Stony Brook University physician assistant students traveled to Guayaquil, Ecuador. The students partnered with Blanca’s House, an organization that is able to provide both preventative and urgent healthcare to patients in outlying communities in South and Central America. The students volunteered in the clinic and worked with the local OB/GYN, pediatrics, and plastics team. During their mission, the students attended to patients with back problems, parasites, facial burns, and cleft palates. The team was even able to donate over $2,000 worth of medical supplies to the patients that travelled over 4 hours to the clinic!
